We are a dynamic and award-winning design studio. Young but seasoned by experience; passionate and driven by design in all its facets. Our focus is delivering unique results aimed at breaking new ground. Design is about shaping – the look, the emotion, the experience, the business.

We work with medium- to large-sized companies as well as with promising start-ups from all around the world.

Barbara Riedmann

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Barbara co-founded Phosphor after working independently for world leading design agencies such as Designit and Designaffairs, serving clients like Samsung, LG and Bosch.

After starting out in Communication Design, Barbara studied Industrial Design at the Hochschule fuer Gestaltung in Schwaebisch Gmuend in Germany. She also pursued studies at Finland’s Lahti University of Applied Sciences.

She worked for Designaffairs, Struppler Design and lastly Brains4Design as Senior Designer.

Barbara has handled a wide variety of design projects in areas including consumer electronics, household appliances, furniture, and health care. Already during her studies she was fascinated by new materials and the opportunities they offer to create richer user experiences that go beyond industrial design.

Over the years Barbara has gained extensive experience and knowledge working on Color, Material & Finish projects as well as Trend Forecasts for various corporations. She has received several international design awards including iF Design Awards, Rat fuer Formgebung nominations and Red Dot Awards.

Clients Barbara has worked with include: Berker, Baero, Bosch, Draeger, CWS, LG, O2, Samsung, Siemens etc.

Ferkaran de la Jara

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

With more than 17 years of experience, Ferkaran has worked for a diversity of industries spanning consumer electronics and products, automotive, home automation, industrial, lifestyle as well as the medical and music sectors. His work has earned him over 15 international design awards.

Ferkaran was born in Peru and grew up in the Bavarian countryside of Germany.
He studied Industrial Design at the Hochschule fuer Gestaltung in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany, and at Du Montfort University in Leicester, England.

After graduating in 2001, he moved to Munich where he has been based ever since.
In 2003, after freelancing for Designaffairs, he joined Pilotfish where he later became Creative Director and led the company’s Munich ID and UI teams.

Ferkaran has worked in Europe and Asia as an independent design consultant for several start-ups, world renowned design agencies and global corporations such as Deutsche Telekom and Huawei Technologies.

Clients Ferkaran has worked with include: Asus, Biotronik, BMW, Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, Heineken, LG, Moog, Munich Airport, Native Instruments, Siemens, Wella, etc.
